ARTlantique at Azul Tierra

During all July the Barcelona store of AzulTierra, owned by our global nomad Toni Espuch, will be displaying ARTlantique furniture. Tables, chests and chairs that possesses a powerful story behind its wood strips: the one of senegalese fisherman.

Traveling through Africa, in Yoff (Dakar), designer Ramón Llonch couldn’t resist the beauty of the colorful and old textured boats over the sand. That postcard image evolved later in the idea of upcycle that boats and make with them furniture. “Nobody knows better how to reuse than Africans: there it is not a trend, it’s their daily life.”

Each piece made in Africa individually is unique and becomes a testimony of the fisherman stories from Western Africa. Looking at their seductive imperfection we realise that these furniture is full of life, sound and tales.
