In the south of England, in a log cabin made by himself, lives Ben Harris, a carpenter who learned the trade at the age of 15 sharpening tools; something that did not surprise his mother, who refers that the first word that came out of his mouth was “log”. Then came the period of working in a furniture factory, specialties and obsessions with specific types of wood and even the launch of his own sawmill business in Scotland. And all this, to discover, in 2005, that his true passion was the sea along with boats. Since then Ben is dedicated to the construction of wooden boats which then he enjoys sailing. And for this craftsman “there is nothing more amazing than cruising with something you built with your own hands.” We invite you to learn more about the story of this dream seeker thanks to the work of Remco Merbis and Fern Scott, authors of “From Timber to Tide”, a beautiful short documentary that shows us a day in Ben’s life.
