Let’s get lost

Dior has opened this week dramatically unveiling the news that the new campaing of the renowned photographer Nan Goldin was shot with the superstar Robert Pattinson for their Dior Homme fragance. A collection of elegant and melancholic images with a cinematographic approach accompained with a short film.

The black and white of some of the pictures and Pattinson posing surrounded by wide landscapes made me thought about two films. Something I can’t resist when I see things is searching for connections. Sometimes the links are obvious, but in other occasions my mind relates to unexpected things.

At first glance I thought about Jim Jarmush and his film Strangers Than Paradise. A black and white cult film with a really raw style.

After Chet Baker crossed into my mind, his early portraits by William Claxton, so beautiful, and the Bruce Weber Documentary: “Let’s Get Lost”. If you haven’t seen it yet, I truly recommend it.

Maybe everything here is connected by the idea of an escape, a flight from the crowd. The search for an intimate space… Now that everything is coming back to work, feels like to put some soft music, to go for a walk, get some silence and enjoy the fall breeze.
