Norman Vilalta, the shoemaker

Casi nada. Norman Vilalta’s story is a mix of traditional craft and entrepreneurial flare. In 2001, the lawyer left Buenos Aires and moved to Florence (Italy) for an apprenticeship in the workshop of shoemaker Stefano Bemer. Today, Vilalta runs a workshop in Barcelona and plans to open a second one in New York in 2012.

“My work is like a tattoo; each pair should take on the life of a client”. Within this few words the workshop of Norman Vilalta in Barcelona (Spain) has been included into Monocle‘s City Survey, “a must guide to the Catalan capital and the people, places, businesses, shops and brands that keep Barcelona buzzing”.
